Manufacturing
Manufacturing is the core of our business. We understand that in order to meet customer expectations, we must maintain a manufacturing environment that remains flexible and efficient without sacrificing quality.
All fabrication, wiring, assembly, and testing is done in-house by our highly skilled technicians. Our manufacturing capabilities include the following:
- Precision Machining (manual operations & CNC)
- Painting, light-balancing and silk screening
- Engraving (CNC & laser)
- Wiring, surface mounting and PCB assembly
- Potting, embedding & molding
- Complex and build-to-print assemblies
Oppenheimer relies on the principles of lean manufacturing to improve efficiency, control costs and continuously improve our processes. As a result, we are able to pass these savings directly to our customers.
Engineering
Superior quality products begin with a sound design. Oppenheimer’s engineering team is comprised of a diverse group of professionals skilled in a wide range of engineering disciplines. Our combined experience and expertise allow us to optimize designs that meet customer requirements and withstand harsh military environments.
Our Engineers use the most current CAD software tools for developing all aspects of the product, including FMEA, FEA and detailed reliability predictions. Some complex designs contain multiple Circuit Card Assemblies populated with hundreds of individual electronic components. The specialized lighting requirements for each product are thoroughly analyzed to establish the most effective design solution for any application.
The technical competence possessed by our Engineering staff translates into a product design that is reliable, robust and cost effective.
Customer Service
With a firm commitment to support our product throughout its life, Oppenheimer’s relationship with customers does not end after the sale. Our dedicated Overhaul and Repair (O&R) center is always on call to support refurbishment and repair of any item we produce. Our O&R department operates as a fully independent, scaled version of our main production facility and provides the same high-level capability but with attention to servicing existing product.
Quality Control
At Oppenheimer, we emphasize that product quality is the responsibility of every employee. Our Quality Management System (QMS) is derived from the requirements of ISO9001:2015/AS9100:2016, to which we are certified, by DQS Inc. Our QMS establishes a culture and environment that fosters all workers to seek opportunities for improvement where procedures are continually monitored and revised as needed. We recognize that in our industry, even a minor defect can trigger significant consequences and we strive to meet our customers expectations for perfection.
Under our QMS, mandatory inspections are conducted at each stage of product evolution, from receiving the raw material to performing comprehensive acceptance on the finished product. Data is acquired and retained using modern software and inspection tools so that tractability can be maintained for each production lot. Our Quality department routinely conducts First Article Inspection (FAI), Factory Acceptance testing (FAT), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and any other inspection/testing required by customer contract or as defined by our QMS.
Photometrics
Photometry is the science that serves as a foundation for Oppenheimer. A thorough understanding of light and its perception to the human eye is essential for the success of our business. Our knowledge of photometry is what separates us from our competitors and results in long relationships with our customers.
At Oppenheimer, we have decades of experience with measuring and analyzing light. Our photometric laboratories are fully equipped with specialized instrumentation, software and analysis tools. Over the years, we have perfected our light-balancing processes and procedures to achieve a result that is simply unmatched by our competitors. By utilizing our instruments and applying our proven techniques, we can provide precise control of luminance, contrast, chromaticity and NVIS radiance to the end product.
